A U.S. District Judge has ordered the release of the controversial internet talk show host and hate blogger, Hal Turner.
We previously reported on the hate blogger getting jail time in July for posting on his site that three Chicago-based federal judges “deserved to be killed” over a handgun ban in suburban Chicago.
“Turner was charged by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Chicago with threatening to assault and murder three judges in retaliation for a June 2 decision they made. In a Web posting the same day, Turner called the 7th Circuit ruling, which declined to overturn laws banning handguns in Chicago and a nearby suburb, an “outrage” and said that the judges behind the decision “deserve to be killed.” The judges who decided the case were Chief Judge Frank Easterbrook, Judge Richard Posner and Judge William Bauer. In a second posting on June 3, Turner provided the names, work addresses, phone numbers and photos of the judges.”
Providing that kind of info is taking talk to the next level. Turner was denied bail and sent on his way to the clink. Somehow, someone decided that this guy deserved to be released.
“The government didn’t even come close to proving he was a danger to the public,” said Oroczo of Newark, N.J.’s Bailey & Oroczo.
“Turner is on his way back to his home state of New Jersey after Walter decided in a Wednesday conference call meeting with lawyers that Turner could be released under “strict conditions,” including a prohibition on his speaking to the media, home confinement and electronic monitoring, said Michael Oroczo, who represents Turner. He said his client was currently in the U.S. Marshal Service’s custody in Oklahoma City as he’s being transferred to New Jersey.”
I’m pretty sure that this won’t

Update:
Yesterday I reported on Hal Turner, the white supremacist internet radio host and blogger that threatened to kill three federal judges.
Today, the story is updated as the hate monger was denied bail, and told that he was going to have to face the music.
“U.S. Magistrate Michael Shipp ordered Harold “Hal” Turner transferred to Illinois to face the charge, which carries a maximum prison sentence of 10 years.”
The 47 year old threatened three Federal appellate Judges who refused to overturn a ban on handguns.
“These judges deserve to be killed,” Turner wrote on his blog… He also provided a map showing the Chicago courthouse where the judges are based and said a map showing their homes would be added.
That is pretty extreme.
“Attorneys on both sides had reached a tentative agreement Thursday that would have allowed Turner to be released on $200,000 bail, confined to his northern New Jersey home and prohibited from using the Internet by monitoring software.”
“But Shipp expressed reservations with the bail package, under which Turner’s mother would guarantee his bail using a house she owns in Pennsylvania. Shipp also noted that federal agents had discovered three pistols, a shotgun and several hundred rounds of ammunition at his apartment on Wednesday.”
“I’m concerned about the danger to the community,” Shipp said before ruling.
Better safe than sorry. Between this completely outrageous and irresponsible episode and his normal message and hate, I think it is a good idea to keep this guy under watch.

A white supremacist hate blogger and internet radio host from N.J. was arrested by the FBI on Monday after he urged the killing of three Chicago-based federal appellate judges for declining a court ruling to overturn a ban on handguns in Chicago and a nearby suburb.
On a June 2nd web posting, Hal Turner, 47, called the decision an “outrage” and said that the judges “deserved to be killed”. He is being charged with threatening to assault and murder the judges in retaliation for performing their official duties.
“In a second posting on June 3, Turner provided the names, work addresses, phone numbers and photos of the three judges on the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago who were on the panel that made the decision. Chief Judge Frank Easterbrook, Judge Richard Posner and Judge William Bauer were the three judges named. National Rifle Association v. City of Chicago (pdf), nos. 08-4142, 08-4243 and 08-4244. Turner said the judges “ignored” the Second Amendment’s right to bear arms and disregarded U.S. Supreme Court rulings.”
“We take threats to federal judges very seriously. Period,” said U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald
“Turner also made a reference to the 2005 murders of U.S. District Judge Joan Lefkow’s husband and mother by a plaintiff whose case against doctors and a Chicago hospital over his treatment as a cancer patient she had dismissed.”
And to top it off, he posted a photo of the Federal Building in Chicago where the judges work and included some arrows pointing to “anti-truck bomb barriers” that surround the building, and a map showing exactly where the building is located.
He was also arrested earlier this month for making similar threats to Connecticut state lawmakers.
This guy is a ticking time bomb.
