Obama’s Leading Teamster

Posted on 11 November 2008

Partner in the Washington office of Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale & Dorr, David Ogden will lead President-elect Obama’s transition team for the Justice Department, and his deputy Thomas J. Perrelli, managing partner of the Washington office of Jenner & Block will be Ogden’s right hand man.

Together, they plan to find a host of legal and civil rights groups to “prepare for them their list of priorities, stemming from recent and wide-ranging criticism of the department for partisan interference with the work of U.S. attorneys and lapsed enforcement of civil rights and environmental laws.”

Ogden is a Clinton administration veteran who also assisted in directing divisions such as the Antitrust, Civil, Civil Rights, Environment and Natural Resources, and Tax divisions. At the Defense Department, he oversaw the department’s litigation in courts throughout the world.
